Redefining Clean Beauty for Millennials:

The Honest Company

With

Don Frey, Chief Innovation Officer

and

Amina Pasha, Senior VP of Marketing

Crowne Plaza Hotel - LAX

11:30 AM Registration/Networking

12 Noon Luncheon & 1 pm Speaker Presentation

Company Founder Jessica Alba was inspired by the 2008 birth of her first child and her personal history of childhood allergies and illnesses to create a line of products that would provide alternatives to the baby and household products then most popular in the market. It took her several years to gather business partners Brian Lee, Sean Kane, and Christopher Gavigan and to obtain  the capitalization to launch the company in 2012 with seventeen products ranging from household cleaners and laundry products to diapers and skin care-- essentially everything that comes in contact with young families.

By November 2014, the company had 275 employees and was projected to do $150 million, with 80% of its revenues from online sales via a monthly subscription service or “Bundles “program. But The Honest Company is no longer just for young mommas and babies. A rising number of consumers ages 18 to 35 are discovering the Honest Approach to Beauty, with products they can easily buy online and also in a growing number of retail outlets-- not only Whole Foods and Costco, the initial distributors, but also Target, and Nordstrom’s. In July of 2015, Alba announced the company would be moving its headquarters from Santa Monica to the Playa Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles. By 2016, the company topped $250 million in sales and by October 2017 was valued at close to $1 billion dollars. Now Honest serves customers in both the United States and Canada with plans to launch its line of products including beauty in Western Europe in 2019. Our speakers will talk about some of the strategies, challenges and opportunities facing a growing company in a competitive worldwide marketplace.
